Government partners with LinkedIn to upskill employees and youth

The Zimbabwe Government has partnered with LinkedIn to provide digital learning opportunities for Government employees and youth. The Minister of Information Communication Technology met with a LinkedIn representative to discuss the potential of LinkedIn Learning to empower the workforce with essential digital skills, according to the Zimbabwe Chronicle. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between traditional education and the demands of the modern job market and to ensure that citizens are equipped to thrive in the digital age.

Miss Universe welcomed in Zimbabwe

Reigning Miss Universe, Sheynnis Palacios, the first Nicaraguan woman to win the coveted pageant visited Zimbabwe and has expressed her admiration for the warm welcome. She is on a five-day tour and is excited to promote a pageant in Zimbabwe. Miss Universe Zimbabwe chairperson, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, emphasised the significance of her visit in inspiring Zimbabwean girls. The visit was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the Chronicle reports.

Zimbabwe sets SADC attendance record

Zimbabwe hosted the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit with the highest level of Presidential attendance in the last 10 years. Only three Heads of State did not attend, according to the Chronicle. The Summit ran under the theme, “Promoting Innovation to unlock opportunities for sustained economic growth and development towards an Industrialised SADC.”

Alleged misused funds for rugby team

The Zimbabwe Rugby Union president Losson Mtongwiza has denied receiving and misusing $50,000 for the national rugby team The Cheetahs ahead of their Africa Cup Sevens tournament held in Mauritius last month. Mtongwiza challenged the allegations and called for an investigation by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC). According to the union president, all players were well-paid and claimed the accusations were fuelled by bitterness over past election results, New Zimbabwe reports

Collaboration with IOM to address migration challenges

Zimbabwe and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) are working together to tackle migration challenges in southern Africa and globally. According to local media Bulawayo 24, emphasis has been placed on the need for regional cooperation and developing legal frameworks to reduce irregular migration and combat trafficking. IOM is committed to supporting Zimbabwe in addressing these challenges.
