Marcos Jr, aboard Philippine Airlines Flight PR001, touched down in San Francisco at precisely 5:05 PM Pacific Standard Time.
The President will attend the 30th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting in San Francisco, the culmination of the year-long chairmanship and hosting by the United States.
This 6-day visit will also include official visits to Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii.
The event also marks the President's second participation in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, a crucial platform for regional trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
Under the theme "Creating a Sustainable and Resilient Future for All," aligning with the Philippines' national and economic interests, President Marcos expressed his commitment to transforming the country towards a sustainable future during his departure speech at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
Marcos will deliver keynote remarks at the APEC CEO Summit, sharing the country’s experience in promoting inclusivity in the journey towards a greener economy. Additionally, he will participate in the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) meeting, focusing on potential public-private partnerships in various sectors.
The President is expected to witness the signing of government-to-government, public-private, and business agreements covering nuclear energy, artificial intelligence for weather forecasting, health sciences (particularly cancer research, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention), pharmaceutical manufacturing, and satellite connectivity.
As a founding member of APEC since its establishment in 1989, the Philippines, President Marcos noted, plays a significant role in the region, hosting 38 percent of the world’s population, 48 percent of its trade, and 62 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP).
Moreover, 85 percent of the country’s trade and top investors come from the APEC region.
Following the APEC Leaders’ Summit, President Marcos will proceed to Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii, where he will engage with business leaders and the Filipino community.
