Paralympic flame arrives in Paris as over 2 million tickets sold for 2024 games: Video

The Paralympic flame originally ignited at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in England, the birthplace of the Paralympic Games, has made its journey to France, arriving through the Channel Tunnel.

The flame was ceremoniously passed to Ugandan Paralympic swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe by Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, in the gardens of UNESCO in Paris ahead of its opening day on August 28.

Like the opening of the just-ended Olympics, the Paris 2024 Paralympics happens away from the main stadium. The games will officially open with a grand ceremony at Place de la Concorde, a central square in Paris that also hosted urban sports like skateboarding during the Olympics.

According to AFP, the Paris 2024 Paralympics organisers revealed on August 27 that over two million tickets have already been sold as excitement builds for the Games, which will run until September 8.

A total of 18 out of the 35 venues used during the Olympics will host Paralympic events, marking a significant continuation of the sporting celebration in the French capital.
