The King of Eswatini has appointed a person living with albinism as part of the 20 newly appointed senators in the Southern African nation.

Stuky Motsa, the newly appointed senator runs a foundation that advocates for the rights of persons with albinism in Eswatini. She was also the principal health administrator at the national laboratory services in Eswatini’s Ministry of Health.

“There’s nothing I can say, I’m still shocked,” she is quoted by local media Swaziland News.

A spokesperson for the King also told reporters that the appointment of a person with albinism is a noble endeavour and a significant act of humanity.

“It is indeed an honourable undertaking projecting a great deal of humanism and intent to make every level of society feel represented in decision-making positions. He does that from time to time. He once appointed a Senator who was blind who however did very well and finished his term,” he is quoted by Swaziland News.
