Chechen leader Kadyrov announces 3,000 fighters ready to join Russian Army as Ukrainian conflict escalates
Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, declared that three thousand Chechen fighters are prepared to join the Russian army in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Kadyrov, who plays the dual role of supporting the Russian president's actions while simultaneously criticizing Russia's "special military operations" in Ukraine, sees the war as a front against Western aggressions.
According to Reuters, Kadyrov stated that his fighters are poised to create new units under the supervision of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Russian National Guard.
This announcement comes amid reports of increased Russian casualties in recent fierce clashes in eastern Ukraine.
The British Ministry of Defense, citing data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, revealed that Russian casualties over the past six weeks have reached the highest levels since the start of the conflict.
In November 2023 alone, Russia reportedly suffered an average of 931 military casualties per day, primarily in the intense battle for the city of Avdiivka.
This marks a significant escalation from the previous peak in March 2023 when, during the height of the battle on the Bakhmut front, an average of 776 Russian soldiers were killed or wounded every day.
The surge in casualties underscores the intensification of the conflict and the challenges faced by Russian forces in Ukraine.
